1. Anti-corrosion method of iron fuel tank:
Generally, the inner wall of an iron motorcycle fuel tank is in contact with gasoline for many years. Because the gasoline contains a certain amount of moisture and some corrosive substances, it can produce electrochemical reactions with iron. Over time, the fuel tank will slowly corrode and perforate. If a piece of zinc skin (the outer shell of ordinary dry battery) is placed in the fuel tank, the chemical properties of zinc are more active, so the electrochemical reaction that causes corrosion will no longer occur with iron but with zinc, which can effectively protect the fuel tank. Not corroded.
This is like the zinc plates nailed to iron ship locks and the magnesium rods in electric water heaters that everyone usually sees. They all use the activity of zinc and magnesium to protect iron. After placing zinc in the fuel tank, you will find that the rust is greatly reduced when cleaning the fuel tank.
2. Methods of removing rust and decals for electroplated parts:
Electroplated parts (chrome-plated or zinc-plated) will rust to varying degrees if they are worn and corroded by water vapor. In severe cases, the rust will be stained. It is difficult to remove it by ordinary methods, which will affect the appearance and damage the parts. A rust removal method that does not corrode the coating and has a good effect.
Step 1: first put the ammonium acetate into the same amount of clean water, and heat it to about 70cC after it is fully dissolved;
Step 2: Use a soft cloth dipped in the solution to scrub the rusted parts until the rust spots disappear; then use the cloth to wipe off the remaining solution, and the electroplated parts will be bright as before.
Step 3: Small parts can also be soaked in the solution for a while, and then wiped dry after removal, the same effect can also be achieved. Finally, wipe with a dry cloth dampened with engine oil.
After the above treatment, the electroplated parts can not only restore the original luster, but also remain unchanged for a long time. For the parts that rust due to the peeling of the plating layer, this method can also remove the rust spots, but the unique luster of the electroplated surface will not appear. It is white powdery crystals and can be purchased in chemical stores.
3. Cleverly remove old decals
In the refurbishment and repair of motorcycles, some body decals often become old and hairy, but it is difficult for you to remove them. Here is a way to soak the applique in water for about 30 minutes to make it moist, then dip a little detergent solution with the rubber used for drawing and rub it on the applique. After a while, the applique and some dirt are rubbed into The strip fell off. Then rinse the surface of the car with water.
4. Repair plastic threaded holes:
Plastic threaded holes are widely used in motorcycles, such as the installation of scooter shells and some meters and instruments. Many maintenance personnel will find that the plastic shell of the scooter has been disassembled and assembled many times, or the self-tapping screw is tightened with too much force, and the plastic threaded hole will slip. If you replace the self-tapping screw one size larger, the plastic threaded hole will burst and crack when screwed in.
Now I will introduce a simple repair method: first fill the plastic threaded hole with AB glue, after the AB glue is cured, make a small hole with a drill, and then screw in the screw. Friends who are interested can try it, which is very convenient.
Cleaning of oil drum seal and non-metal parts:
Most motorcycle users use plastic buckets to store gasoline, which is affordable and convenient. However, the lid of the barrel is often not sealed tightly, and the gasoline is easy to volatilize, which is wasteful and unsafe. My solution to this problem is to put a convenient plastic bag on the mouth of the bucket before closing the lid, and then tighten the lid. In order to check whether the seal is good, you can squeeze the plastic bucket with your hands. If there is no air leakage, it means that the lid is tightly sealed.
5. Cleaning of non-metal parts
In the maintenance of motorcycles, some non-metal parts often need to be cleaned. These parts cannot be cleaned with kerosene, diesel, gasoline and metal cleaning agents that clean metal parts, otherwise, they will deteriorate and become invalid. The cleaning method should be determined according to the material of the part.
(1) Rubber parts should be cleaned with alcohol.
(2) Parts made of foam plastic should be cleaned with detergent or soapy water.
(3) Leather parts should not be washed with any cleaning fluid, just wipe them with a cloth.
(4) Paper parts cannot be cleaned with water. They should be brushed or cleaned in kerosene or diesel.
(5) Clutch friction linings and brake shoe friction linings cannot be cleaned with kerosene, diesel, or alkaline solutions, but should be scrubbed with gasoline.
